General Information about the Lab
Biochemical Engineering and Bioenergy Laboratory (BEBL) is currently under development. The lab is equipped with all basic facilities to support the various teaching as well as the practical training activities of the undergraduate course. The major laboratory courses carried out in the lab include Bioprocess Technology, Downstream Processing, Instrumentation and Methods, Enzyme Engineering, summer/winter training courses and major project of the final semester students. Recently, the facilities for algae cultivation, biogas production and wastewater treatment have been developed in the laboratory. The major research areas of BEBL include: Biochemical and Bioprocess Engineering, Bioremediation of heavy metals and other pollutants, Advanced bioreactor development for wastewater treatment, Bioenergy, simulation and modeling of biological processes, food technology and algae-based technologies for renewable bioproducts. Other facilities are under rapid development to support the cutting edge research in the above listed research areas.
