Prof O. P. Thakur has been a professor for more than 18 years since 2006 at Netaji Subhas University of Technology (erstwhile NSIT, Delhi University), Govt of NCT of Delhi. Prof. Thakur has more than 35 years of experience of teaching different courses in the area of Physics, Condensed Matter and Materials Science. Prof. Thakur is highest rated on the satisfaction parameter by the students as reported in their feedback. 

His current research area includes: Next-Generation Functional Materials:  Unveiling the fabrication of 2D materials [like reduced graphene oxide(rGO),  Mxenes, Graphite, MoTe2, MoSe2, MoS2, etc] based nano-composites for energy storage device applications (Pseudo capacitors, Supercapacitors, EDLC), Gas Sensing and Photocatalytic Applications, Rare-earth/ Transition-metal doped Ferrites/ Perovskites / Metal oxides based nanocomposites for energy conversion devices such as Hydroelectric Cells (HECs), Perovskite Solar Cells (PSCs) etc.

He has supervised/ supervising 21 Ph.D. thesis (16 candidates completed, and currently 05 candidates are pursuing their PhD work). He has published 141 research papers (80 in SCIE listed Journals, 61 in Scopus listed international Journals, Book Chapters and Conference Proceedings), and also published Two Patents (Indian).  

He has discharged several administrative responsibilities such as Dean, Faculty of Management Studies; Dean, Undergraduate Studies; Dean, Faculty Affairs; Head of Dept, Director-IQAC, NEP2020 Nodal Officer, Co-Ordinator-IQAC, Superintendent of Exam, and several other responsibilities in the Institutional development as & when assigned by the authority from time to time in the past. He has also served as Member (External) on panel of experts of many academic and statutory bodies.
