He was also a Faculty Member (Professor) in Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (ACSIR) at National   Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.

Dr. Sukhvir Singh is Ph.D in physics from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. He served as a Sr. Principal Scientist & Head of Electron and Ion Microscopy group at CSIR-National   Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. He served the laboratory for 39 years at various positions and capacity. Synthesis and characterization of bulk and nano structured thin films of compound semiconductors, metal oxides, nanocomposites and investigation of their structural, optical, electronics and electrical properties in order to ascertain their application for various sensors and device applications are the main areas of his research.  Synthesis and characterization of thermoelectric materials and their composites with CNTs, and Graphene in order to enhance their figure of merit for use in thermoelectric devices is another area of his current research. He has also worked for the development of standard reference materials (SRM) for the calibration of SEM and TEM is another area of his specialized research under Emeritus Scientist Project of CSIR. Worked on various CSIR network projects and US funded projects in different areas of leading research.

Dr. Singh has designed and developed high accuracy equipment’s to measure the thermal properties of metals, semiconductors and insulators that served Indian industries for the upliftment of the quality of their products. In addition, testing and calibration of all types temperature measuring equipments and maintenance of National Standards in the country at par with the International Standards for Temperature Measurements.

He has established a Centre for Nano Scale Science at CSIR-National  Physical  Laboratory, New Delhi where highly sophisticated and state of the art advance equipment such as XRD/HRXRD, TEM/HRTEM, SEM/EDS, AFM, TOF-SIMS, PL spectrometer and highly sophisticated specimen preparation tools for TEM and SEM are installed and serving  the  nation in various areas of the current research . He has also played a major role in the establishment of Nano Science Centre at the faculty of Natural Sciences Jamia Millia New Delhi. Very recently he has also established a state of the art Wet Chemical lab for chemical, physical and bio medical applications at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.

He has published more than 150 research papers in SCI journals of high repute and supervised Ph.D, M.Tech and M.Sc Students for their thesis in various discipline of science. He has three nos of US, South Africa and Asia patents granted in his name. Presently supervising four no. of Ph.D students at Department of Physics, NSUT, Dwarka, New Delhi.

He is the life Fellow and life member of various reputed Scientific Societies of India. He has visited various countries like Japan, Taiwan, Neitherland, Brasil, Denmark and USA in different bilateral scientific programs of government of India during his services at CSIR- National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.
