NSUT Central Library

NSUT Central Library is the heart of the University.  It functions from the first & Mezzanine floors of the centrally air-conditioned library building. The Library Building, surrounded by the Administrative Block, the Academic Blocks & the Sports Ground, is in the center of academic activities. The plinth area of this building is in 2000 square meters. Computerized Central Library is a part of Delhi Government Library Network cluster. It is using eG4 Library Management Software. This software is a part of “A Digital Agenda for Automation & Networking of Government Libraries", Project of GOI and made available through the NIC. The data on Library services are hosted on NIC cloud. 

Library services are provided to meet the needs of print/electronic publications of Students, Faculty Members, Research Scholars, Officers and Staff of the University, for teaching, research, training & working to ensure quality education & development of the nation. The personalized library services are provided to the users through their mobile phones. In order to fully utilize Library services, it is essential to be a member of Central Library. One can become its member either though Academic Section (in case of students) or through Administrative Branch (in case of employee of the University or otherwise). Library No Dues is signed only for its member.

Membership:

After the admission of students their data are made available in soft copy by the University Computer Center and verified by the Academic Section of the University before the same are imported in Library Management Software. After adding records of a member in database, an e-mail from “eG4 Support” is send by the system with login credentials, links for OPAC and Mobile Application to the member. On completion of programme the information on Library No-dues of student is made available to Academic Section against said verified credential of the students. An email is also sent in this regard to the user by the system.  

Employee of the University and others can apply in specified Library Membership Form either for Library Membership or for Library No-Dues. Library Membership Form can be downloaded from the following link:

Library Facilities

Book Bank: This facility is available on 1st floor within Library premises. Under this facility books are issued for 120 days to a student in beginning of each semester. In the start of each semester this facility is available exclusively to the students of reserved categories (SC/ST) for first 21 days. They may borrow maximum three books from this section and not exceeding two at a time. It is close accessed. After said 21 days, it is available for all students with the maximum two books on different titles. In case of rush it is controlled through an application from the users on the basis of first come first serve. After the due date intimated on due date slip of a book, the overdue charge @Re.1 per day per book is applicable. 

General Books Collection: Books on all subject matters can be found in this section which is extended on 1st floor and Mezzanine floor within Library premises. The students may borrow maximum three books from this section and not exceeding two at a time for 14 days. A book can be renewed within due date for one time. After due date the overdue charge @Re.1 per day per book is applicable

Text book: This is situated within Book Bank Section. One book can be taken for reading purpose within Library against I-Card.

Reference Collection: It is spread on Mezzanine floor within Library premises. Books of this section can be consulted within the Central Library and are not issued to students. 

Journal Section: Print collection is spread over on 1st floor within Central Library premises in closed access. Access to online journals and databases are addressed by this section. Also the information on Central Library required for accreditation and other purposes are provided at this section. 

Newspapers, Magazine & Video Cassettes: These are spread over on 1st floor within Central Library premises for the access of the users.

Institutional Membership:

For facilitating the researches of faculty members, Central Library is coordinating for membership of DELNET, that of INFLIBNET for Shodhganga, IRINS, ShodhChakra, ESS Consortium, and registered with NDLI.

Students are encouraged to become the members of NSUT NDLI Club using the University Passkey. Passkey is available for all students and available at PYQ Counter on Mezzanine floor. Members are encouraged to organize the events under the banner of this NSUT NDLI Club.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC):  University is procuring print books and subscribing many full text online databases which includes journals/proceeding/standards and e-books. These are accessible from platforms of different publishers. Also these are updated in Web OPAC as subscribed and paid resources within the ‘Internet Resources’ and notified time to time.
