BSE Department
Research Themes
Under the aegis of initiative of the university towards creating cutting edge Technology based research, the focus of the dept. of the Biological Sciences & Engineering has been to look beyond future generations. As principles of advanced biological sciences and engineering and cutting-edge biotechnologies available on present day together with machine learning and Biocomputing, envisions the futuristic themes for innovative research.
The past few decades have seen a major, rather revolutionary, change in our knowledge regarding life forms and our ability to manipulate biological systems. This has translated into major strides in Biotechnology, with far-reaching impact on diverse areas such as healthcare, diagnostics, agriculture, food, environment and consumer products. The dept. takes a lead to effect biotechnical innovations and streamline them to the benefit of a common man. Thus, to meet the goal, the department offers a unique blend of expertise in applied Biological sciences, Biochemical engineering, Biocomputing, Machine learning, Energy & Environment and finally the Dissemination of knowledge. It strives for the application of this expertise to evolve various biotechnological discoveries, products and processes.
The broad focal areas of research of our faculty members are:
(a) Molecular Microbiology and Drug Discovery
(a) Cell and Molecular Biotechnology
(b) Tissue & Stem Cell Engineering
(c) Biomaterials & Nanotechnology
(e) Algal & Hydroponic Technology
(f) Structural Biochemistry
(g) Systems and Computational Biology
(h) AI & Machine languages
Stronger faculty interactions and collaborations within the Department provide graduate (BTech, MTech) and doctoral (PhD & Post-doctoral) students with the opportunity to pursue their interests and develop into the future leaders in frontier areas of biotechnology. The unique multidisciplinary nature of the academic programs at NSUT prepares a candidate to pursue a career in academia or industry spanning the chemical, pharmaceutical or medical sectors.
