Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering

Welcome to the Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering

Started in 2004, the Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering (BSE) has grown exponentially and has come to be established as a leading place for education, training and research in Biotechnology.  The BSE Department was conceived with the aim of creating well trained human resources to fulfil the growing demand in various sectors of Biotechnology. What started as a modest initiative has blossomed into a thriving academic unit, nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders in biotechnology. The Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

A Vision for the Future of Biotechnology

Biotechnology is set to revolutionize human life and the society. It is one among the dynamic areas of science and engineering that represents a synthesis of evolving technologies to propel industries towards sustainable development. Today, this growing discipline is poised on the interface of various subjects that contribute to the growth of multitude of industries in the areas of health, agriculture, food, energy and environment. It is considered as a major catalyst and driving force of sustainability and circular economy.

The Department was founded with a clear vision to address the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the fast-evolving field of biotechnology. Since its inception during the 2004-2005 academic session, the Department has remained dedicated to fostering scientific inquiry, innovation, and hands-on learning. We are committed to producing highly trained graduates who are well-prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of the biotechnology sector.
