Theory of Machines Lab

Location: Room No. 223(B), Block VI

Faculty Incharge: Dr. Vivek Kumar

Staff: Mr. Gian Chand

About the Lab:

This lab describes the physical concepts that govern the behaviour of machines. It comprises the study of relative motions between parts of the machines and the forces that act on these parts due to constrained motion. It helps in the understanding of various forms of kinematics chain and their inversions through physical model setups. The moving parts of all machines inherently produce vibration and noise. Hence the system is required to be designed in a manner so as to anticipate a vibration problem and minimize its undesirable effects.

Experimental Setups:

  • Belt Friction
  • Epicyclic Gear Train
  • Involute Gear Cutting Setup
  • CAM Mechanisms

Engineering Mechanics Lab

Location: Room No.220, Block VI

Faculty Incharge: Dr. Swati Gangwar

Staff: Mr. Rakesh Kumar

About the Lab:

This lab is the core laboratory of the Division of Manufacturing Processes and Automation Engineering. It is based on the application of the fundamental theories connected to engineering mechanics course. Force analysis of a mechanical system and conditions of equilibrium are the two principal considerations behind conducting the experiments in this lab.

Experimental Setups:

  • Screw Jack
  • Jib Crane
  • Worm & Worm Wheel
  • Wheel & Differential Axle
  • Bell Crank Lever
  • Simple Beam Apparatus
  • Force Table Apparatus
  • Friction Apparatus
  • Shear Leg Apparatus
  • Truss analysis Apparatus

Material Testing Lab

Location: 021/VI

Faculty Incharge: Dr. Narender Kumar

General Information about the Lab
The Applied Mechanics laboratory is the core laboratory of the division of Manufacturing Processes and Automation Engineering. The equipments in the laboratory are based on the basic theories of applied mechanics, which help the students to understand the force analysis of a mechanical system. There are ten equipments in the laboratory that are housed in two separate rooms numbered 126 and 128 of Block VI.

Facilities available: All the equipments are hardware-based.
